1. Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR)
• A planned smart city initiative aimed at creating a global manufacturing and trading hub. Key projects include an Ultra-Mega Solar Park with a capacity of 4,400 MW, the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, and the New Dholera International Airport.
2. Gujarat Hybrid Renewable Energy Park
• Located near Vighakot village in Kutch district, this under-construction renewable energy park aims to generate 30 GW of electricity from both solar panels and wind turbines, making it the world’s largest hybrid renewable energy park upon completion.
3. Surat Metro
• The Surat Metro project comprises two corridors with a combined length of 40.35 kilometers. Construction began on January 18, 2021, and the project is expected to be completed by December 2027, enhancing urban mobility in Surat.
4. Diamond Research and Mercantile City (DREAM City)
• An upcoming business district in Surat, planned to be Gujarat’s third smart city. It will feature office spaces, residential areas, and facilities like the Surat Diamond Bourse, aiming to bolster the diamond and textile industries.
5. Indian Oil Corporation Refinery Expansions
• Indian Oil Corporation is set to complete the expansion of its refineries in Gujarat, Panipat, and Barauni by December 2025. The Gujarat refinery’s capacity will increase from 13.7 to 18 million tonnes per annum, integrating with lube and petrochemical production units.
6. Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City)
• A planned business district envisioned to serve as a global financial and IT services hub. It offers significant tax exemptions and regulatory freedoms to attract investors and corporations.
7. Hindalco’s Solar Module Manufacturing Plant
• Hindalco Industries plans to enter the solar module manufacturing sector by setting up a plant in Mundra, Gujarat. This venture marks Hindalco’s initial step into manufacturing green energy components.
8. TotalEnergies and Adani Green Energy Solar JV
• French energy giant TotalEnergies has agreed to invest $444 million in a joint venture with Adani Green Energy Limited to develop a 1.15 GW portfolio of solar parks in Gujarat, contributing to India’s renewable energy goals.
9. REC’s Renewable Energy Agreements
• Indian infrastructure lender REC has signed agreements worth approximately $13.4 billion with renewable energy developers for projects in sectors such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, battery energy, and green ammonia, many of which are planned in Gujarat.
